Welcome to 2025 Africa Internet Governance Forum

This year’s African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF) will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania where internet stakeholders from across the region and around the world will meet from 29 to 31 May 2025.

The Africa IGF will bring together stakeholders from various sectors, including government, civil society, private sector, technical communities, and academia. The forum will serve as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and exchanging ideas on crucial Internet Governance issues in the African region.

The Africa IGF 2025 will center around key thematic areas that reflect the continent’s priorities in digital development, inclusion, and governance.

Four different Tracks of the 14th African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF 2025):

Main Africa IGF Track

The 14th African Internet Governance Forum (AfIGF 2025) will be held from 29–31 May 2025 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. This multi-stakeholder platform brings together governments, civil society, private sector, academia, and the technical community to deliberate on Africa’s most pressing digital issues. The main forum will feature thematic sessions on connectivity, data governance, AI, digital rights, and cybersecurity. Participants will work toward shaping Africa’s voice in global Internet governance processes.

Youth Track

The Africa Youth IGF Summit, scheduled for 29th May 2025, will gather young leaders, innovators, and digital advocates from across the continent. The summit will explore how young people can shape and influence Internet governance and digital policy in Africa. Topics will include youth inclusion, digital literacy, innovation, and participation in decision-making spaces. It serves as a launchpad for empowering youth voices in the broader AfIGF discussions.

Parliamentarian Track

Scheduled for 29th May 2025, the Parliamentarian Track offers a dedicated platform for Members of Parliament (MPs) from across Africa to engage in digital policy discussions. The track will feature regional consultations and roundtables focused on harmonizing legislation, digital cooperation, and safeguarding digital rights. MPs from other regions will also participate, promoting inter-regional dialogue and collaboration. This track strengthens the policy and regulatory environment for Africa’s digital development.

AFRISIG 3

African School on IG (AfriSIG)

AfriSIG 2025 is set to take place from 24–28 May 2025, just before the main forum. The School offers intensive learning on Internet governance principles, processes, and policy-making for emerging African leaders. Participants will explore critical topics like multistakeholderism, digital policy, and Internet rights. AfriSIG equips its alumni to meaningfully contribute to national and regional Internet governance dialogues.

Accommodation, Travel and Event Updates

The 2025 Africa IGF will be hosted at a central, state-of-the-art venue in Tanzania equipped to accommodate diverse sessions and networking opportunities. The venue is easily accessible and offers modern facilities, including secure Wi-Fi, breakout rooms, and exhibition areas. 

Accommodation

A range of hotel options, including 5-star, mid-range, and budget-friendly lodgings, will be available for participants attending the 2025 Africa IGF. Specially negotiated rates may be offered at selected partner hotels close to the venue. We recommend early booking to ensure convenience and availability during the Forum period.

Travel & Logistics

Tanzania offers easy access through major international airports and reliable local transport services. Airport transfers, shuttle services, and local taxis will be available to assist participants in reaching their accommodation and the venue. Further logistics information, including visa guidance and travel tips, will be provided ahead of the event.

Welcome Reception

A warm welcome reception will be organized to officially kick off the Africa IGF 2025 and provide a networking space for participants. Further details, including date and venue, will be communicated soon.

Host Country Dinner

The Host Country Dinner will take place at Serena Hotel on May 30, 2025, offering guests a chance to experience Tanzanian hospitality and cultural performances. It will be an evening of networking, cuisine, and celebration.

Complementary Tour

A guided complementary tour will be arranged for interested participants to explore key attractions around Dar-es-Salaam. More details about the date, itinerary, and registration will be shared shortly.

Online Registration is Now Closed

Please note that online registration for the Africa IGF 2025 is now officially closed. If you have not yet registered, you will still have the opportunity to register in person at the event venue in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 29th to 31st May 2025.
  • In-person registration will be available at the registration desk at the venue entrance.

  • Please come with a valid form of identification (passport or national ID).

  • Delegates registering on-site will receive their badges and welcome materials upon verification.

  • Onsite registration is subject to capacity limits and security clearance.

We encourage you to arrive early to complete your registration and collect your badge before the opening session.
