The Africa IGF Secretariat serves as the coordinating body supporting the implementation and advancement of Internet Governance processes across the African continent. It is hosted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in close collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC).
The Secretariat plays a central role in organizing and facilitating the Africa Internet Governance Forum (Africa IGF), ensuring inclusive multi-stakeholder participation from governments, the private sector, civil society, academia, and the technical community. It supports policy dialogue, regional coordination, capacity building, and the strengthening of national and regional IGF initiatives across Africa.
By providing institutional and technical support, the Africa IGF Secretariat helps promote digital development, policy harmonization, and meaningful participation of African stakeholders in global Internet governance processes. Its work contributes to advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda and fostering a secure, inclusive, and accessible Internet ecosystem across the continent.
