Following a continental Call for Thematic and Issues Inputs held between April 13 and May 3, 2026, the Africa IGF Secretariat gathered extensive community feedback to shape the strategic agenda for the 15th annual forum.
Key Highlights & Outcomes: #
- Broad Continental Engagement: The consultation received over 207 contributions from diverse stakeholders spanning 36 African countries. Submissions represented a balanced mix of perspectives from governments, civil society, the private sector, academia, the technical community, youth networks, and development partners.
- Alignment with Global Frameworks: The priority issues identified by the community closely align with global digital governance benchmarks, including the WSIS+20 review process, which emphasizes meaningful connectivity, digital inclusion, trust, security, and leveraging digital infrastructure to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- Overarching Theme Selection: Based on these multi-stakeholder inputs, the Africa IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG), with full endorsement from the host country (Ghana), officially established the overarching theme for Africa IGF 2026: “Advancing Africa’s Digital Future Through Innovation, Inclusion, and Trust.”
