Important Note & Visa Requirements

Africa IGF 2025: Visa Application Guidance for Delegates Requiring Referral Visas

All delegates from some specific countries are required to apply for an e-Visa in advance through the official Tanzanian Immigration website: https://visa.immigration.go.tz/. Once your visa application has been submitted, you are kindly requested to share your application code using the designated form provided by the Africa IGF Secretariat. This will help us coordinate efficiently with the immigration authorities to ensure timely processing and approval.

 

Countries requiring a Referral Visa include:
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Chad, Eritrea, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Iran, Iraq, Kyrgyz Republic (Kyrgyzstan), Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Palestine, Somalia, Sierra Leone, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, and stateless persons or individuals holding refugee status.

Please do not fill this form if  your passport country is not listed among the countries requiring a Referral Visa. This form is only for delegates holding passports from the countries listed above.

 

Important Notes:

  • Do not book flight tickets or make hotel reservations in Tanzania until your visa application has been fully approved.

  • Stateless persons and refugees who hold travel documents under the Vienna Convention must also obtain a Referral Visa prior to traveling to Tanzania.

  • The list of countries requiring a Referral Visa is subject to change. We encourage all delegates to check the Tanzanian Immigration website regularly for any updates or changes in visa policy.

All delegates who have not received an official note verbale or email communication from the Secretariat confirming visa exemption will be required to apply for an e-visa prior to entering Tanzania. This includes all countries listed under the referral visa category. All passport holders who are not nationals of countries exempted from visa requirements must obtain an e-visa in advance. 

After submitting your e-visa application through the official Tanzanian Immigration website, please visit the Travel Page Form and complete the form by entering the e-visa application code provided. This step is essential for further processing and coordination with immigration authorities. Delegates are strongly advised to complete these steps early to avoid any entry complications.

Getting to Tanzania

Tanzania is accessible by several international airlines, with Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) in Dar es Salaam serving as the main entry point. Delegates are encouraged to book flights early and confirm airport pickup arrangements with their host or accommodation.

Visa Requirements

Most travelers to Tanzania require a visa to enter the country. You can apply for an e-Visa online via the official Tanzanian Immigration website: https://visa.immigration.go.tz
It is recommended to apply for your visa at least 2–3 weeks before travel. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
